Sound Expressions DJ Entertainment is Music to Future Brides Ears
Orange County DJ reaches out to potential brides both locally and through social media
Sound Expressions DJ Entertainment (SEDJ) provides mobile DJ/ Emcee services for special occasions such as weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events. SEDJ was founded in 2005 by Chris Allison, and is headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA. Despite intense competition in the Southern California market, Chris became a DJ because of his love for music and his ability to create special memories for his customers.
When asked what he loves most about his job, Chris said, “Getting to use my voice, personality and passion for music, and to create an atmosphere for people to have a great time.” How does SEDJ differentiate themselves? They provide three essential ingredients: professional service, personal touch, and prices that are right. A bride’s wedding reception is far too important to hire an amateur DJ from Craigslist, just to save money says SEDJ.
A PR campaign is being launched by Curtis Nabors PR in order to raise SEDJ’s brand awareness with future brides through the local community and via social media tools. A crucial foundation for any successful PR campaign is to discover a specific target audience. This will enable SEDJ to determine wants and needs of that audience, and how to best connect with them. For this campaign, the target market will be career women who are single, ages 25-34, and who live in Orange County. Secondary research was conducted in order to establish this.
Primary research was also conducted by reaching out to SEDJ’s Facebook fans, as well as Chris’ Facebook friends. The quantitative research consisted of an online survey that sought to answer the target audience’s relation to social media usage as well as DJ preferences. The responses were too small to be significant. A focus group is planned in order to discover what influences the target market with respect to wants and needs and social media and DJ insights.
The following goals are planned for the four-month campaign:
- Conduct additional research to determine what influences the target audience and what specific messaging will be used to connect with them.
- Determine local community opportunities for SEDJ in order to increase brand awareness.
- Create a social media strategy that includes appropriate tools for the target audience, such as Facebook and Pinterest. Recommending local Facebook ads to reach the target audience could also be part of the strategy.
